Looking beyond the numbers
Looking beyond the numbers
I bring over two decades of commercial financial wisdom gained in businesses of all sizes, ranging from owner managed, to private equity backed, to subsidiary of listed plc.
Acutely aware that smaller businesses frequently don’t have access to the insight and skills that larger corporates receive from a Finance Director, I founded HMRB Associates so that you can access the benefit of wide ranging financial experience, On-Demand.
I am a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales, having originally qualified with KPMG. I have a depth of experience and an understanding of what it takes to own and run your own enterprise.
With previous management team experience of turning around a consulting engineering business from a £300k loss making, to £5m turnover, with £1m profit within 5 years. We employed a number of strategic actions which included refinancing the business to remove directors’ personal guarantees and charges over personal property, managed cash to bring the business to a debt free position and removed an absentee majority stakeholder. Following these successful actions the business went to a trade sale.
During the economic downturn of 2008 – 2009 I managed the finances of a private equity backed £3m turnover PR firm, ultimately taking it through a trade sale and asset sale. This included managing the financial aspects of the business into the new owner.
I spent over 10 years with an international PR group (£45m turnover) providing commercial and strategic financial advice to the leadership to two of the groups divisions. During this time I was involved with the sale from Founder owned to private equity. Then with a later sale from private equity to private equity.
I founded HMRB Associates because I strongly believe that smaller businesses and business owners have much to gain from the insight and skills that a Finance Director brings. By providing my services On-Demand, your business can have access to valuable, actionable advice.
